Tesla raises starting price of Model S Plaid in China by about $9,395

-

US electric car company Tesla on Friday raised the starting price of the Tesla Model S Plaid in China by RMB 60,000 ($9,395) to RMB 1,059,990. The model was previously priced at RMB 999,990.

At the same time, the starting price of the Tesla Model Y Long Range in China was raised to RMB 347,900 from RMB 339,900, up by RMB 8,000 yuan.

On Thursday, the company raised the starting price of the Model S Plaid by $10,000 to $129,990 in the US. The starting price of the Model Y Long Range was increased by $500 to $52,490 in the US.

Tesla held a Model S Plaid delivery event at its California facility on Friday, with 25 deliveries of the model.

Launched on Sept. 22, 2020, the Model S Plaid can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 1.99 seconds, or 0-100 km/h in 2.1 seconds. Tesla calls it the fastest production car ever.

It has a top speed of 200 mph (320 km/h) and an estimated range of 390 miles (about 628 km).

It’s worth noting that Tesla CEO Elon Musk also recently tweeted that Tesla will not launch the Model S Plaid + model.

Because it’s not necessary, the Model S Plaid is good enough, with a 0-60mph acceleration of less than two seconds, which is already the fastest of any production model, he explained.
