Xpeng’s July Deliveries Exceed 8,000 Units for First Time, With P7 Breaking Growth Record for Three Consecutive Months

Chinese smart electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer Xpeng announced on Monday that it has recorded its highest-ever monthly delivery at 8,040 EVs for July, representing a 228% increase year-over-year, and a 22% increase from the previous month.

As of July 31, 2021, Xpeng’s year-to-date total deliveries reached 38,778 units, representing a 388% increase year-over-year. Deliveries in July consisted of 6,054 P7s, the company’s sport smart sedan, and 1,986 G3s, its smart compact SUV.

P7 deliveries continued record-breaking momentum in July, reflecting the P7’s rising popularity among China’s tech-savvy consumers. In July 2021, at its first-year anniversary of customer deliveries, total P7 deliveries reached 40,612 since the launch. Meanwhile, the P7’s Navigation Guided Pilot (NGP) highway solutions increases its appeal to a wider customer base.

The Company further expanded its product portfolio in July by launching the G3i, the G3 SUV’s mid-phase facelift version, with deliveries expected in September 2021.

In July, XPeng announced the presale price range of 160,000-230,000 yuan ($24,750-35,580), post subsidies, for its third production model, the P5 family-friendly smart sedan. Being the world’s first mass-produced smart EV equipped with auto-grade LiDAR technology, the P5 is planned to launch in the third quarter of this year.

XPeng on Saturday commenced construction of the new Wuhan Smart EV Manufacturing Base, its third manufacturing facility. Located in the central Chinese city of Wuhan, a major auto manufacturing hub of the country, the new manufacturing base spans a planned total area of 733,000 square meters. Upon completion, it will provide the company with an additional annual capacity of 100,000 units.

“Expanding our capacity in key hubs like Wuhan plays a critical role in our long-term strategic roadmap to embrace the sector’s transformation,” said He Xiaopeng, CEO of the firm. “It will further enhance our supply chain management, sales and distribution network in the future.”

Headquartered in Guangzhou, XPeng has experienced rapid growth since its inception in 2015, has received multiple rounds of funding from top domestic and international investors. The company is the first smart electric vehicle brand to be dual primary-listed in both the US and Hong Kong.

The smart car industry is highly competitive.

According to publicly available data, another domestic smart car manufacturer, Li Auto, delivered 8,589 units of the Ideal ONE in July, joining Xpeng in exceeding 8,000 units in a single month for the first time, up 251.3% from July 2020 and 11.4% from June 2021. Li Auto’s total deliveries have now reached 38,743 units year-to-date. Cumulative deliveries of the Ideal ONE have now reached 72,340 units.
