Brembo rolls out software‑defined brake‑by‑wire Sensify brakes

Announced May 4, 2026, the Sensify platform is now fitted as standard across a launch programme for a leading — but unnamed — global vehicle manufacturer, Brembo said. The company has also signed additional contracts that together target supply in the “hundreds of thousands” of vehicles per year, signalling the first large‑scale commercial deployment of its electromechanical brake (EMB) architecture.

Sensify replaces conventional hydraulic circuits and centralized actuation with a distributed, wheel‑level architecture that uses electric actuators and software to modulate braking force continuously. Brembo positions the solution not merely as hardware but as an “intelligent, integrated braking platform” designed to orchestrate the entire corner ecosystem and to integrate with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and future autonomous driving functions. The firm says the architecture supports software‑defined vehicle (SDV) strategies by enabling OEMs to introduce new braking‑related features over a vehicle’s lifecycle via software updates.

Daniele Schillaci, Brembo’s CEO, described Sensify as translating the company’s vision into “industrial reality,” and framed the system as contributing to “safer mobility” and Brembo’s longer‑term aim of shaping a “Zero Accident Future.” Brembo emphasises adaptable software layers and state‑of‑the‑art hardware to differentiate Sensify in a market where several suppliers are racing to commercialise EMB technologies.

Technical benefits cited include finer wheel‑by‑wheel braking control for improved stability, handling and traction management — advantages that become especially relevant on low‑adhesion surfaces and during dynamic manoeuvres. The move away from hydraulic fluid also removes maintenance tasks associated with traditional brake systems.

Headquartered in Bergamo, Brembo employs roughly 16,000 people across 18 countries and reported €3.7bn in revenue in 2025. With Sensify now in series production and multiple OEM programmes in hand, Brembo aims to accelerate the shift from hydraulic to electrified braking as part of the industry’s broader transition to software‑first vehicle architectures.
